Te PanuiHaere mai, haere mai, haere mai. Thrice welcome to our visitors. Te Pànui supports research and extension activities by participating community groups and science providers. It seeks to share information and update project partners, including farmers, science contributors, researchers and other stakeholders.
The 'Te Pànui' site and related print newsletter were originally established to provide information about organic crop production systems on the East Coast, under the Foundation for Research, Science and Technology Funded Project, C02X0305 Science for Community Change. It has been widened to include reports and resources relating to activities also in Hawke's Bay and Rangitikei under FRST Contract C02X0802 Integrating Western Science and Matauranga for sustainable cropping. Both projects aim for positive change in the capacity of agricultural industries and communities to develop and implement technological innovations in crop production systems so they are more resilient, profitable and environmentally benign. NewsTe Pànui News contains the newsletters that announce coming events, report on events that have been held and refer to technical tips on related issues. They are free on-line or subscribe Click here>. Coming EventsAs a rule, the events we offer are open to anyone who would like to come along. Sometimes they are at private addresses, and sometimes we need to know numbers in advance. Please consider these things and if you have any questions contact the people who are running an event you are interested in attending. Technical TipsTechnical Tips are small 'fact sheets': information about topics we discuss at field walks, at seminars, or other topics that have been asked about. The source of information varies - sometimes it is our own research, sometimes material gathered from a range of other places. Think about it and take care when you apply it in your situation. We can never be perfectly correct for every possible situation. Farming is about knowing your place, your management options and capacities, as well as crops and their husbandry. If you notice something you don't understand, or something you disagree with, please contact us. We'll see what we can do.
